Director's Bio

 

Austeen Eboka  is a Certified Director, Producer and Line Producer from the Hollywood Films Institute. He is a pioneering member of Nigeria’s Nollywood film industry and a 2014 F.A.C.E. award-winner for Best Film Director; Producer/Director of the award-winning film- ADORA for Best Film at the African NAFCA 2014 and Best Actress at the Hollywood Weekly Magazine Films Festival, 2014.

 

Austeen Eboka was exposed to the world of acting at the age of 10 in the church community. In 1980, realizing the need to promote, encourage and stimulate dramatic and cultural awareness among the youth, he established a theatrical outfit in his home church known as the St. Dominic’s Youth Club (SDYC), Lagos from where several present Nigeria’s Nollywood stars have emerged. For over a decade (1980 – 1991), he played “The Christ” in the yearly “Stations of the Cross” organized by the church, carrying the cross along the streets of Lagos, Nigeria in commemoration of the passion of our Lord on Good Friday.

 

With an MBA in Business Management coupled with his pluralism and versatility, Austeen worked in various managerial capacities, acquiring a wealth of professional experiences, ranging from Banking to IT and Telecommunications (as a Corporate Strategic Specialist). Until recently, he was engaged as an Independent Contractor (Mental Health Counselor for the Assertive Community Treatment Program) in the State of Georgia. Eboka is also a Certified Liquidator (CL) in New Jersey and also holds a Realtor’s License in Georgia, USA.

From 1988 – 1990, he was the Drama Co-coordinator for the School of Nursing, University of Lagos. He was also the Administrative Director for Kranom Productions, Nigeria, a theatrical productions outfit. Austeen starred in several initial Nollywood movies which marked the advent of the now booming film industry in Africa, before leaving the country for the proverbial ‘greener pastures.’ He also featured prominently in various Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Soaps namely: City of Gold, Man around Town, Dreams, Mind Bending and Check Mate.

 

Adding to his artistic repertoire, Austeen also directed, and acted in several stage productions, amongst which are:

The Gods Are Not to Blame,  Things Fall Apart,  Wedlock of the Gods, Imaguero, Wind vs. Polygamy,  Isiburu, Echoes from the Lagoon,  Banziba, Trials of Brother Jero, King Emene,  Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again.  

                         

In 2010, Austeen co-produced the first ever collaborative feature film between Ukrainian/Russian and Nigerian filmmakers, “Feathered Dreams” billed to be released later this year. Eboka also starred in several independent movies here in the USA, namely: Missing in America, The Domino Effect, The God Daughter, The Last Minute; We are Only Human; Black Money; Where do Broken Hearts Go? 30-days in Atlanta, The Rescue. He also starred in a reality TV drama “The Maqoo Empire” and a TV scripted series, “Passport.”

 

Austeen Eboka is the CEO/Director, MacMedia Productions, LLC; Former Director of Programming, FuxionTV (Atlanta’s Multicultural Television Station – www.myfuxiontv.com). V.P. Admin, Afrimedia Entertainment, LLC. He is also a member of the Screen Writers and Actors Guild for Diaswood Network. His hobbies include Swimming, Chess, Poetry and Martial Arts (holds 2nd degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, Fung Shui Kung fu, Southern Praying Mantis). Austeen’s passion lies greatly in the Arts. He believes that the Art is the most appropriate platform for us to examine the ideals of our time, while weighing the wages of sin in the ever growing conflict between good and evil. He maintains that, “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time, going out on a limb because that's where the fruit is.”
